Info: Henning Stables began as a hobby for life long horse enthusiast, Joan Henning. Supporting her equine interests is her husband, Jim Henning. Over 40 years ago, Joan started in 4-H as a 6 year old on a shetland pony, Tacker, and the first blue ribbon sealed a lifelong love of equines. Joan has never been without her horses and strived to provide the best care and training for them. A quarter century ago, Jim and Joan married and Jim realized that to keep up with Joan, horses were in his future also. He started to train youngsters, starting them and fine tuning older horses in his gentle way that we realized has been a gift fine tuned with years of experience. Six years ago, the Henning's developed an interest in raising very rare American Bashkir Curly horses, of which only approx. 100 are gaited and Joan owns two of them, a stallion and a filly from champion curly bloodlines. The Henning's love to trail ride and Joan has competed successfully in competative trail rides on her curly horse, taking dressage lessons, foxhunting, and participating in Hunter Pace events. Joan, a master teacher in Biology for nearly a quarter century, teaches equine science to high school students, as well as Advanced Biology and Honors Biology. She is a member of the American Bashkir Curly Registry and the International Curly Horse Organization. Jim, a carpenter and woodworker, has been able to semi-retire and spend more time with the horses he loves, attending symposiums, starting and training horses, fine tuning horses in his own unique, gentle, and personal way. The Henning's work as a team, riding in both western and english. They also train horses to drive, owning three of their own that they drive. The Henning's also train gaited horses, owning their own very rare foxtrotting American Bashkir Curlies, known for their hypoallergenicity for those with horse allergies. Henning Stables is situated on a beautiful 120 farm, with rolling hills, mature forests, meadows and Henning Pond. They also board horses and have trail riding experiences year round.
