Info: Jim Wilkins has been showing cutting horses for over 20 years. He is one of the highest NCHA money earning trainers in Nebraska. Him and his father, John Wilkins, run the J Bar D Ranch, and Jim has had the privilege of showing some of the great sons and daughters of Doc's Jack Sprat. One of Jim's best qualities is being able to "read" a horse, and know when to push it, and when to back down and let the horse build up confidence. He wants the horse to enjoy his work, and to find his own unique style, while still being correct. Even if you are not into cutting, Jim will work to put a great foundation on any young horse, to go into any discipline.

Mustangs
Mustangs, living legends, small naturalized horses of the Western Plains descended from horses brought in by the Spanish explorers in the 1500's. The wild mustangs reached Nebraska by the 1680's. 3-Strikes Ranch's mission is To enhance the mustangs quality of life by creating a natural home-like setting that fosters the independence and integrity of the wild horse. To educate the public of the wonders of these living legends. To preserve a western way of life by showcasing and training beautiful mustangs on a Western Nebraska ranch. During the 1920'S-30'S, the Meduna Farm took in mustangs bought from the Omaha stockyards in Nebraska, then trained and sold them. The stockyards received the wild horses via railcar from the open ranges of the western United States. The farm periodically took in a few horses to be trained, no matter the age or disposition of the animal. With gentle and proper care they were trained. Today, the mustang corrals are located out in the western Nebraska sandhills at the 3-Strikes Ranch. Help this cowboy save more mustangs. Feel good by doing something great today for these living legends. One way you can contribute is to sponsor a mustang. By doing this you will receive a photo and a brief history and periodic updates of a mustang you sponsor. This is a great way for someone to really help a mustang on a more personal basis when they do not have the ability or facilities to handle a wild horse. You can contact the 3-Strikes Ranch for more information. Another way you can do your part is by sending a donation to the 3-Strikes address above. 100% of all donations goes toward the preservation of the wild mustangs. A third way is by donating items such as stock tanks, fending supplies, new and used tack, etc... people can help themselves... but the survival of the wild mustang depends on the generosity of people. |
