Rider Comfort and Safety on the Trail! It seems like many folks believe that a trail horse is just a horse that doesn't show. Many believe that a trail horse should be a lot less expensive to buy than a show horse. We here at "Live To Ride" beg to differ! We believe a good trail horse is invaluable. We believe that a comfortable trail ride for us is also invaluable! Why be miserable when you can ride with safely and comfortably? Have you seen folks riding in tennis shoes? Where's their boot with a heel? You know that's not just a "cowboy thing." There is actually a purpose. If for some reason your horse takes off and you lose your balance, your foot could slide into your stirrup and you could be dragged. A heeled boot will create a stop and help you avoid that unfortunate situation. There are also tapaderos for your stirrups that won't allow your foot to slide through. Boots are also good because they will keep you from rubbing your calf…especially important in an English saddle...
